Mickey Bushell
Ambassador

Paralympian, Mickey Bushell, has joined our team.

Born with Lumbar Sacral agenesis congenital paraplegia, Mickey is missing his last 7 vertebra above the coccyx and paralysed from the chest down. Despite doctors predicting that he would never sit up unaided, nor self-mobilise, he has proven them wrong time and again.

After being introduced to wheelchair racing at age 11, he has progressed through the levels with multiple world and European championship medals, a previous world record for 100m T53, and is a 3-time Paralympian, holding both gold and silver in 100m T53 wheelchair racing. More recently Mickey took on the mammoth challenge of climbing the Wrekin hill in Telford on his hands to raise funds for his project, the Mickey Bushell Gold Standard Academy. The Academy provides an essential fully funded service for wheelchair users of all ages and abilities to improve their fitness, life skills, mental and physical health, as well as joining a community of people who are all there to support and encourage each other.

Alongside his professional sporting career and the MBGSA, Mickey is also a licensed British Athletics coach, coaching Paralympic level athletes as well as up and coming racers, and those who want a taste of the sport.

Colin Jenkins
Ambassador

After 35 years in primary education, 27 of which as headteacher and seconded challenge advisor and consultative headteacher with Powys Education Committee -I have just launched my own education consultancy business and thoroughly enjoying the variety of exciting work from carrying out school inspections with ESTYN to supporting students at Chester and Glyndwr University as a link tutor to delivering courses for headteachers for collective learning.

In my spare time I love camper vanning, cycling, golfing, dog walking and following and coaching a variety of sports to primary children.

In his role as a headteacher Colin was always a strong advocate of children benefiting from GREAT SPORTS COACHING and the impact on their Health & Wellbeing as well as their academic outputs.
